Poetry relaxes you. It gets rid of all the stress that you have been going through during the day (we’re out of school so FREEDOM!) and…calms you down. =)
Anyway, I write haikus. Yes, those five syllable-seven syllable-five syllable esque poems that is very simple to come up with. Kame and I published our poems in the school “Spotlight” paper, and my haikus were the highlight. I’ve received many comments about my first haiku, “Dawn” that the teacher I submitted the works to e-mailed me, asking me if I could write two more haikus following “Dawn”. I wrote “Dusk” and “Night”, and they were published as well. Once they were published, I had gotten so many copies for my friends and family. Most of the students had already received their copy, so I saved most of them.
It was pretty rare to see my works published. The only works I ever published were a children’s book, several poems, and an autobiography. I was very happy to recieve such nice and warm comments on my haikus.Â
We had a poetry slam in theatre. I couldn’t come up with anything as I am terrible with creating words that well…rhyme, so I scribbled down some haikus that revolved from a dark world into serenity. The teacher gave the rubric, and she loved my haikus! She didn’t even know I could write very well, so I was happy. She also said that I would be a great addition to Advanced Theatre next year.
Nowadays, I write haikus to relieve stress. Maybe I should post them? 😀

I love poetry because it can get a point across in a short amount of time. I love to write about darkness against light and the elements. It makes us think about life in a different view. Like this:
Calm, gentle flowers
Lend your daughter your powers
Wise trees which have seen both purity and hate
Clean my angered mind to a slate
Dew that hungs on to shallow grass
May my rage soon pass
Moon from the night so long ago
From this morning I have grown
Dear sun that shines on me
I know now that my soul is free.
*end*
